On the south side of Columbus, Ohio is a settlement house better known as South Side Settlement. It is in a racially mixed neighborhood. There are people of different national origins, religious beliefs, and values. There are people who are poor and not so poor.

There are young and old people. There are people who are employed and people who are looking for employment. There are people who are healthy and there are people who need medical attention. There are discouraged people, and there are hopeful people.

At our house, we are interested in changing the quality of life for people who enter our community. We not only strive to help people with food, clothing and housing but also work for clean and safe neighborhoods and positive futures for families and children. People need the warmth, friendliness and help of other people, and they need to learn to offer their warmth, friendliness and help to others.

South Side Settlement is people... and that has been our mission for over 100 years!
